Well did you survive the big storm of 2011 that was supposed to wipe out all of mankind?
Honestly, I hadn’t been paying attention until the night before the storm when it seemed like every weather man was preaching hellfire and brimstone. On my nightly GO Train trip home they made announcements about possible delays and switch problems and I got spooked. I decided to stay home and call it a snow day.
The next morning this is what I saw outside my front door. Snow – and lots of it! No, not the end of the world, but fairly thick and heavy and definitely beautiful. Sara had the day off too (YAY!) and we went out for a walk in the snow, followed by some heavy-duty shoveling, which was then followed by grilled cheese sandwiches and hot soup. Mmmmm…
Pretty fancy eh? This is another posh neighbourhood house. Lots of snowy eye candy for sure!
I love this house too for it’s Leave-It-To-Beaver-ness…I think June Cleaver is inside baking brownies in a full skirt and pearls.
The snow was falling! The porch on this house has lovely and substantial details. What an impressive entrance.
Big wide porches with big windows always get me. Am I a weirdo for liking those old-school curtains? Probably.
Look at all of those icicles hanging from the gutters! The warm stucco/brick combo on this house is nice in an understated and stately way.
This pine’s boughs were burdened by thick, heavy snow. So gorgeous!
So definitely a great day for a snowy walk to clear the old mind. I’m not sure Sara’s mind was cleared since I prattled on the whole way and stopped to take pictures every minute, but she didn’t seem to mind. And I took so many pictures that I’ll show you the rest in another snowy post.
Till then!
A stylish Wonderland 🙂
I survived also, wasn’t the hype terrifying! Things like, survival kit, and emergency blankets…lol
I had to go to work and drive in it at 0615 before many plows out! ( I work at the hospital/nurse) It was worse after my 12 hr shift trying to get my bug out of the plowed in parking spot.
Glad you had a nice snow day!

I live near Chicago. It was pretty bad here. Lake Shore Drive shut done at one point Tuesday night & as money as 900 cars were stuck on it for over 12 hours. Of course the drivers had to just abandon their cars. The road wasn’t re-opened until Thursday morning.
We had thunder & lightening during the storm. Wind gusts up to 55mph. Mother Nature must have been in a bad mood.
Fortunately, I was home during the storm & outside my windows I’m seeing my patio covered in almost 3ft of snow & I think it’s beautiful.
That is INSANE Mary! Oh my gosh, I’m glad you made it through! They thought it was going to be a huge storm in Toronto, but some warm air divided the the storm system and reduced its severity. I also love looking out the back window at the thick snow mounding up on furniture. But I hope I’m able to stave off cabin fever a while longer cause Spring is still a little ways off!

Gorgeous homes! I grew up in Whitby… so I know how beautiful some of those older Oshawa homes can be. You definitely captured a good number of ’em 🙂
Thanks Kerry, I grew up in Whitby too (much more of a subdivision type of place right?) and so I really appreciate these old ones in Oshawa. Or Poshawa as I jokingly call it!

Yes – whitby is definitely much more of a subdivision place… unless you can afford some of those gorgeous homes in “downtown” whitby! 🙂 I’m loving your photos of “burbs” back home… now that I made the move to the far west end of Toronto! Please share more in the spring when all the gardens are blooming!!
You can bet there will be lots of spring garden pictures Kerry! I was just thinking about the daffodils and crocus bulbs I planted in the fall and how exciting it will be when they poke through the soil!!! Hope the west end is treating you well and I’m not making you too homesick (probably not!).
